Washington is 135 years old

135 years ago  at 5:27pm, Washington became the 42nd state of the United States on November 11, 1889.

The President was Benjamin Harrison.

Washington is the only state named after a president.

The first governor of Washington was Elisha P. Ferry. He had already served two terms as governor of Washington Territory when Washington was admitted to statehood.
