Design for roundabout on Ballinger Way |
The City of Lake Forest Park will be constructing a roundabout on Ballinger Way NE in 2025. It will be located at the intersection of SR-104 (Ballinger Way NE), 40th Place NE, and NE 184th Street.
The project will include a single-lane roundabout, new sidewalks and shared use pathways, four new pedestrian crossings with refuge islands, and improved street lighting.
Looking towards the future with safety, efficiency, and the environment in mind, this project will allow our community to grow mindfully while also improving air quality and providing the infrastructure necessary to promote non-vehicular travel along the SR-104 corridor.
What to Expect
Construction is expected to begin in Spring 2025 and be completed by Fall 2026. Over this 18-month period, work will occur alternately on the northbound and southbound sections of SR-104, resulting in reduced traffic lanes managed by flaggers.

Shoreline sure knows how to screw with the big and long vehicles
ReplyDeletegee.... I can't think of any nice things to say about all the road and lane changes this city is doing. whuy aren't you doing proper research and measurments needed by VARIOUS sized vehicles. it's not just cars driving around
ReplyDelete2 of my comments were denied
ReplyDeleteUseless project. Waste of money!
ReplyDeleteThank you for posting this. I'm now able to think ahead about my work commute. I appreciate the heads-up!
ReplyDeletePeople need to learn how to drive in a round about.
ReplyDeleteI would like to know why this decision was made?
ReplyDeleteTypical government giving us things we didn’t ask for🙄
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad this is happening. It's a dangerous intersection and needs a facelift!
ReplyDeleteCompletely unreasearched and unnecessary project.
ReplyDeleteYou obviously don’t live in LFP. Your comment is baseless.
DeleteAnonymous: The roundabout has been designed to accommodate long vehicles such as buses and semis. You're just trying to find something to be mad about. Also, this is Lake Forest Park, not Shoreline.
ReplyDeleteThe purpose is to limit vehicles and promote what, more pedestrian and bicycle traffic? City planners need to put their joystick back in the Amazon box and get wet with a measuring tape! It rains a lot in the NW and people get wet and cars slide. We live in real life not a simulator. Have a nice wet day
ReplyDeleteThat's great but why there? Not that much traffic when I use it. Be much better served down on the highway below. I assume someone with purse strings lives up there..
ReplyDeleteI wish people didn't treat roundabouts like thay were 4 way stops
ReplyDeleteExcept the ones in lake Steven’s. Hiway 9 and 204. Accidents nearly every day. Sometimes more a day. Signs knocked over in the accidents.
DeleteThe angry anonymous commenter above seems to not realize that roundabouts are safer, more efficient, and reduce wear on vehicles. I welcome this change, and most rational people will as well.
ReplyDeleteCelebrating this news! That intersection is a disaster for all the residents off 40th pl NE.
ReplyDeleteTo the first two commenters-- I've seen plenty of Metro buses (long, wide vehicles, various drivers) navigating roundabouts without problems. Perhaps some vehicles you're referring to would do better driving the roundabouts a bit slower. Re: how decisions are made, you can attend public meetings, contact the city, etc. Find out what's being considered and get your thoughts in during the planning stages.
ReplyDeleteMaybe Shoreline should think about adding a light by the McDonald's and Thriftway, too many accidents there lately
