Public Safety Budget Town Hall October 21, 2024 at Third Place Commons

On Monday, October 21, 2024 from 6:00pm to 8:00pm, I am hosting a Public Safety Budget Town Hall meeting at Third Place Commons in Town Center, Lake Forest Park, intersection Bothell and Ballinger Way.

As a member of the Council’s Budget Leadership Team charged with writing the 2025 county budget, I am chairing the public safety budget panel. Our public safety budget at King County is under tremendous strain. From police to prosecutors to public defenders to courts and jails, costs are rising, service demands are increasing, and the county budget structure, which largely relies on property taxes is constrained under state law.

 
I have invited a panel of public safety and budget leaders to join us at this important meeting, to share with you what they are doing in their respective areas, explain the challenges and opportunities they see, and to hear your feedback and ideas on this essential government function. Your input will be important to me and my colleagues as we work on the 2025 county budget.
