Why is Aurora Avenue crime concentrated in Seattle, not Shoreline?

There's no question that the northern stretch of Aurora in Seattle - from 105th to 145th - is the wild west. Drive by shootings, pot shop invasions, pedestrians on the sidewalk hit by cars, drug deals. There is prostitution but the crime seems to center on gun battles between pimps.

The Seattle City Council is considering tackling the problem by declaring it a 'no prostitution' zone. And they can't help but notice that all those problems stop at the city border and are non-existent in Shoreline.

    I have always marveled that 145th is such a distinct dividing line between crime and peace. I have always chalked it up to a well run police department doing their job and keeping Shoreliners safe. Turns out it's because we have sidewalks and plants. Never saw that coming. Is there anything sidewalks can't do?

    LOL. Yeah... sidewalks and plants is the main reason and not the fact that Seattle is struggling with police recruitment and enforcement of basic laws. Is it so hard to give some credit to the officers working Shoreline King County Sheriff Department?
