The Shoreline South / 148th station had Welcome to Shoreline painted on the pavement. Children were provided with chalk and invited to add color.
All four of the Lynnwood Link stations opened on Friday, August 30, 2024. It was a hot, sunny day, and the stations were full of people.
I'm not sure how many of them walked to the stations - I suspect a lot did. When I drove by the Lynnwood station at 5:30pm there were pedestrians all along 44th. A group of about 20 were waiting for the walk light to go into the grounds where booths were already crowded.

Mountlake Terrace also had a huge number of booths, filling the large parking lot adjacent to the station and its garage.

County Councilmember Rod Dembowski and Shoreline Mayor Chris Roberts were delighted to help bring light rail to Shoreline.
I am excited but cautiously optimistic. I’ve ridden the rail for a while. I’m very concerned about the lack of fare enforcement as well as transients having easier access to Shoreline now because our County doesn’t enforce drug laws.
ReplyDeleteWe were at the 185th Light rail opening, and the walkway was constantly full. I was volunteering at one of the many booths and my wife went to walk around to see all the others. She went up to the parking deck to see the food trucks and almost fell down as she stepped off of the curb that she was unable to see. The sun was bright and from her angle of approach, she was unable to tell it was there (later, I went up there to see where this had happened). As she was walking back, she actually saw an elderly lady, on the ground in the same spot, that had fallen and bloodied her mouth! Obviously, they need to do some painting of the curbs to warn people of the change in elevation!

I sent your comment to Sound Transit and it was forwarded to their Facilities people.
ReplyDeleteI saw the lady who fell and hurt herself, too. The part that was really the most surprising was how slowly the fire department staff responded to her injury when they were made aware of it. They could not have acted more disinterested.
ReplyDeleteAnd as of Saturday an elevator was down in Lynnwood and escalator in Mtlk Terrace
ReplyDeleteRobert Scott and other person: The City is very interested in the reports of the people who tripped at the 185th Station. Can you tell me exactly where it happened? You can email if you prefer: Editor@ShorelineAreaNews.com
