Shoreline Fire reports that at approximately 6:15pm Sunday evening, June 2, 2024, they were dispatched to a report of a person that fell off a board in Puget Sound off Richmond Beach / Woodway without resurfacing.

The extensive search was called off with nothing found. Several individuals were interviewed with the potential that the individual might have gotten out of the water in Edmonds.

Shoreline had four rescue swimmers in the water, boats, a Coast Guard helicopter and a drone that were assisting with the search.

  1. PDF people. I’ve seen so many paddleboarders & kayakers who aren’t wearing a PDF. There’s a reason it’s called a “life jacket” Avoid these tragedies :-(

    1. My friend Harold never learned to swim. We were at his cabin on Deer Island and went to drop the pots and set the traps. The sea was getting a bit dicey, yet Harold wasn't wearing his life preserver.
didn't have his life jacket on. I'm sorry. Don't like "Dude! Put your life jacket on.,"

  2. I believe the headline should read Overboard, not off a board.

    2. No, it was a stand-up paddle board

  3. Depends on the activity doesn't it? Could have been wind sailing or surfing and fell of their board.

  4. A surf board? A paddle board? Please - don't assume we already know the story.

  5. It’s a PFD. Personal Floatation Device. It’s a real good idea on practically any boat even if you can swim, you might not be able to in cold water. Also there is always a possibility of colliding with another vessel and ending up in the water injured.
