Sadly many of us assumed a Boeing decline was inevitable when they moved headquarters to Chicago, non-union lines to Carolina, machined parts to Italy (not Germany). Workers we know in Everett claim to spend much of their time re-working/fixing parts that come to them from other areas of the country//world.
