Trees For Rail is celebrating its third and final year helping Shoreline residents plant native trees.
Since 2021, only 118 properties have participated in the program.
The collaboration between Sound Transit, the City of Shoreline, and King Conservation District (KCD) works to re-green the Lynnwood Link light rail corridor with native trees and shrubs as it passes through the City of Shoreline.
KCD staff will be at Celebrate Shoreline August 19, 2023 to share information about the program and the importance of our urban tree canopy.
For more information, and to determine if your property qualifies, visit kingcd.org/TreesForRail.
This program is different from and in addition to the Free Trees for Shoreline program.

I did not want any more big trees. (Have 3 100 year + evergreens already.) Had there been smaller trees - max 8-10 feet in next 15 years - I would have gladly taken another tree.
ReplyDeleteAll the trees are tiny - go ahead an apply
ReplyDeleteHas Sound Transit walked the neighborhoods and told the residents that trees are available? Are the residents renters or owner? Is there anyone tracking the success or failure of these "remedial" opportunities? Color me cynical - more of my tax money wasted.
ReplyDeleteThey sent postcards. Then sent another round when they expanded the areas that qualified. It would have to be owners. They track - that's why they knew it was 118. Sound Transit is paying for it.
ReplyDeleteSound Transit is funded by my taxes. I remain cynical - I remember several years ago when this blog publicized lots of info re: new light rail stations, rezoning, etc and when it came down to it the neighbors were unaware. DKH you are the only reason I have a clue "what's goin" on..."
