Update on Suni's

The Kyrkos family, owners of arson-destroyed Suni's restaurant in the North City Business district, are working their way through insurance claims and city permits, "trying to figure out what the next steps are."

We do plan on rebuilding. We are just trying to figure out everything that goes with it. There’s a lot of steps that have to be taken before we have set plans.  

They are still in shock and grief at the loss, but very thankful for the community support.

Shoreline is a special place with amazing people and we hope to see everyone again as soon as we can.

    Well if you're going to build anything might as well bake in some housing. Prime location for a 5 over 2 condo/apartment building with below grade parking, anchored by a well established family pizza place with indoor and outdoor seating. Maybe a fireplace? Rooftop pizza deck?

      No . . we already have enough over priced, poorly built cracker boxes built into our inadequate infrastructure.
      Please just begin repairs, open the place just the way it was and don't listen to this idiot.

      Very true, the apartment buildings and even condos proliferating Seattle, Shoreline, etc look like washed up containers ships or relics from the set of Brave New World. A blight. No architectural quality, no character, no sense of place. Nothing special just instant financial oatmeal for developers and lanslords. Doubt the homeless could afford the rents so it’s partly a gamble on light rail attracting occupants with incomes. Would be interesting to see the political reasoning, and donations, linked to it all.

    Any update on the arson investigation? We've had several fires in Shoreline and N Seattle recently, with no follow-up as to cause.

    We love Sunis, Miss it terribly. Our thoughts and prayers are with the owners. It was one of the best! Hoping they can rebuild soon

    Big opportunity for the city to put into action some of their big talk - help the business rebuild - speed up permitting, reviews, etc. Or not. Add some housing, , give them tax breaks like you do to the big developers -

    I really miss Suni's and the employees, my family and I went there for years, my kids were little and now grown. What I loved is you could get such a wide variety of food and it was good. There is just nothing that can replace them. It was a place you could go and they knew your name and got to know you. No matter how fast they build it won't be fast enough. Just to order a salad or a sandwich or a burger or pizza. My family and I always mention how much we miss eating the the food. I want anyone who worked at Suni's and the owner to know how much my family misses the food and people. We moved from Shoreline in 2015 and still made the drive to eat at our favorite place always.

    Any thoughts on maybe a temp location until the rebuild is completed so that was can all start enjoying your delicious food again?

    Same as it was - it worked. No housing cracker box, the city is filling up with them. STOP the crackerboxes.

    I hope Suni's returns soon, but the truth is that the city is ruining itself, between excessive development of unneeded apartments, a housing shortage is not a shortage of apartments, you can't raise a family in an apartment nor are they any fun to live in, but they've bulldozed housing, screwed the streets to where the are nearly impassable, and forced every decent restaurant out, either through re-zoning, excessive expenses, or arson, so in the next 1 to 2 years I hope to live a few hundred miles away to put a safe distance between myself and Shoreline.

    We also cherished this great little restaurant and raised our kids on its delicious take out! Burgers, lasagna,
    Pita and pizza- crazy good! We miss you and hope you return ❤️
