Since we are transitioning from summer to autumn, the Sun is gradually setting further south each day, not north. On the summer solstice, the sunset is close to the northwest direction, on the winter solstice the sunset is southwest, and on the equinoxes the sunset is due west. Right now it's westnorthwest trending south.
