King County Health Office Dr. Jeff Duchin |
Last week, on May 13, the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) announced new guidance that people who are fully vaccinated no longer need to wear masks for most activities.
While the Washington State Department of Health (DOH) announced state guidelines consistent with the CDC, both CDC and DOH highlight that mask policies should take into account local COVID-19 circumstances and requirements.
Today’s Directive that applies to King County takes into account these local conditions.

For people with normal immune systems who have been fully vaccinated and are past the two week waiting period, this directive insults our intelligence. The only reason Dr. Duchin wants us to wear masks is to keep up peer pressure on those who are dragging their feet rather than getting vaccinated. The vaccine's protection is extremely substantial.
ReplyDeleteSince it's now meaningless, I'm not wearing my mask any more outside of a medical setting. I'll try to explain myself at the door if challenged, and if they refuse entry I'll shop elsewhere. After all, Snohomish County is a short drive away.
Go get your own antibody test if you're wary. It costs $10 and involves a quick blood draw. Once you see as I have that your blood is full of antibodies, you'll ditch the mask and breathe the free air again.
