Great Herons are nesting at the Kenmore rookery

It looks like all the nests are claimed at the Kenmore rookery. It's a little hard to tell the herons from the tree branches, but maybe that's the point.
This might be a good time to put netting over your fish pond.

They don't look too happy to see him, do they?

Once upon a time, before you knew to worry about the air pollution in Kenmore, the great blue heron population was prolific. With no testing of air quality in the highly developed, geographic basin called Kenmore, the "siege" of heron in Kenmore has been depleted from hundreds of nests to the pitiful few in this photo. The heron, wildlife and our health are the collateral damage of the unchecked, untested pollution of air and dense development in a geographic pocket at the northend of Lake Washington.
Sad times. We are aware and still do nothing.
