Grinders Hot Sands closes permanently

From Grinders Facebook page

Grinders Hot Sands, 19811 Aurora Ave N, Shoreline, WA 98133 announced the permanent closure of their highly acclaimed restaurant with a farewell letter to their customers.

It is with heavy hearts that we announce that we are giving up the good fight and are officially closed for business.
There will be another restaurant opening up in our space later this summer, please support your local independent businesses during these uncertain and tumultuous times we find ourselves in.
It has been an honor and a privilege to feed our community. Thank you for 15 years of serving Shoreline and the greater Seattle area.
Anyone who's done restaurant work knows it isn't always easy. That aside, a few facts stand out:
    • We loved serving our customers good, made from scratch food and tasty beverages.
    • We wish things were different.
    • We will miss you.
Take care of yourselves and your loved ones.
So much love,
Jackie and Eric
Chris and Hazel
and the whole Grinders Team

  1. Grinders Team - I discovered you only ~1 year ago, when heading home from the Sears Scratch-n-Dent store after our fridge started to fail. The 15 year old was driving with his permit while I was looking on the phone for a place to stop for lunch. He doesn't like to try new things, so didn't want to stop, but after 3 bites the answer to the question "Can we come back here again" was a resounding YES! Little did you know, but I've became an unofficial salesman for your restaurant, and a Saturday afternoon regular. The recipes, the environment, and the approach....I hope you can find some way to pass along/hand down to someone.....I'll be their first customer.

  3. Here we are after more than a year, memory pops out on my husband's phone of one of your sandwiches and we still feel sad and miss our favorite sandwiche place. We leave in hope that one day you will open again ๐Ÿ˜Œ๐Ÿงก

  4. Heading to Seattle this month, the one thing I wanted to make sure I hit was Grinder's in Shoreline, the best sandwhiches I've ever had in my life. Sad to hear, and nothing but gratitude for the dozens of wonderful experiences I had when I lived in Seattle, and the couple I was able to have since moving away.

  5. This breaks my heart. From 2001 - 2011 I traveled to various areas from Bellingham down to Medford OR. When I visit anywhere for work I travel around to find something new to eat for lunch. While at our Shoreline location I found you. Best STUFF EVER! It was my official go to lunch place from then on for which I got the employees at that site hooked. When I changed jobs I would occasionally plan to drive "way up there" on the weekend or on a week day off to get my fix. Informed anyone who listened "You've gotta try this". I even told my current co-workers who live up north and told my boss who lives far south of Seattle when she stated her family was going to an event not far from you. I told her she had to try it. She and her husband ate while there, loved it and made a huge order to go to take back to the rest of her family.
Fast forward to today, was feeling a "need" and planned to go there sometime soon. Googled.... and unfortunately saw this bad news.

Why do all the GOOD ones have to go?! Thank you for delicious food and excellent service over the many years. Hope all circumstances that caused the closure will resolve itself in the near future and you find a way back to making that delicious food available to all.

  6. I think of Grinders & Hot Sands nearly once every 6 months. I don’t understand why they closed. I crave a sauball regularly. I wish they would reopen
