Two Shorecrest seniors recognized by College Board's National Hispanic Recognition Program

The College Board recently announced Shorecrest seniors Enrique Garcia and Edward Noriega scored in the top 2.5 percent of Hispanic students in our region who took the PSAT and have achieved Scholar status in the College Board’s National Hispanic Recognition Program.

The national program recognizes approximately 7,000 academically outstanding Hispanic students from the 400,000 students who take the PSAT each year.

To qualify for the recognition, students must take the PSAT in October of their junior year; be at least one-quarter Hispanic descent and identify as Hispanic on their PSAT answer sheet; achieve the minimum required PSAT cutoff score as set yearly by the College Board; and achieve a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher by the middle of their junior year.

After graduation, Garcia and Noriega both plan to attend four-year universities. Garcia plans to study computer engineering and Noriega will focus on chemistry or chemical engineering.
