Can we get 60 ferns in the ground at Twin Ponds Park on Saturday?

Come make a contribution to our environment as you plant ferns in a newly restored area in Twin Ponds Park on Saturday, October 5, 2019 from 10am to 1pm.

The hole is 9 feet long, 3 deep and 3 wide.

After so much weeding, mulching and planting of native shrubs at our restoration site, we now have lots of ferns to fill in the gaps. 

These lovely plants, Sword Fern for dryer areas and Lady Ferns down along Thornton Creek, will provide habitat for many small animals where previously only tall stands of invasive blackberry could grow.

As we pack in the native plants we will inhibit the regrowth of weeds.

If you haven’t seen this spot along First Ave one block north of 149th St. and across from Aegis Living, come take a look at how an eyesore is now a place of beauty. 

All the work has been done by volunteers. We truly need helpers to get over 60 ferns in the ground. The work is rewarding and spending time outdoors with like-minded people is enjoyable. 

Look for the small parking lot near the community garden. Avoid the parking lot on the corner of 155th St.

We work from 10am to 1pm. We bring a jug of water so you can refill your own bottle and have granola bars to snack on. We supply gloves and tools or bring your own.
