The Seattle Times recently published an article that sheds new light on the airplane noise issues: As Sea-Tac Airport traffic booms, distant neighborhoods are noisy despite FAA plan - hint - we're one of the "distant neighborhoods."
After more than two decades living in Shoreline, retired attorney Jean Hilde says plane noise in the past three years has reached disturbing levels.
“I am one of those afflicted citizens, despite the fact that I live 25 miles from the airport,” she wrote to the Port of Seattle last year.

While air traffic has definitely increased, we notice the noise more in Shoreline due to the summer winds coming out of the south. We added more insulation to our house, installed higher insulation quality windows and mini-split heat pumps which let us keep our windows closed. Big electric bill savings, lower carbon footprint and we don’t hear a thing inside our house.
I love the night air in the summer and would like to keep my windows open but the jet noise prevents me from doing this and getting a good night's sleep.
