Celebrate Shoreline Aug 13 - 18
Sunday, August 11, 2019
2019 marks the 24th birthday of the City of Shoreline. The annual Celebrate Shoreline event commemorates this landmark of the City’s incorporation with activities designed to spark celebration and community spirit.
The celebration takes place over multiple days and venues to encourage community participation.
With each year, Celebrate Shoreline reflects the celebration of pride the community has in its Cityhood.
From local arts organizations and neighborhood associations, to area businesses and individual volunteers, Celebrate Shoreline happens because strong community partnerships come together to show their support for their Shoreline neighbors.
Highlights of 2019 Celebrate Shoreline attractions are as follows:
The North City Jazz Walk will be held Tuesday, August 13 for its 13th year of live jazz music in multiple venues throughout the North City Business District. The Jazz Walk is sponsored by the North City Neighborhood Association, the North City Business Association and the Shoreline Lake Forest Park Arts Council.
The Shoreline Lake Forest Park Arts Council will host Correo Aereo at 6:30pm at Kruckeberg Botanic Garden on Wednesday, August 14th for an evening of music in the garden.
The Celebrate Shoreline Car Show will once again be held at the Shoreline Farmers Market at Shoreline Place. Both the Shoreline Historical Museum and the Farmer’s Market are excited to continue their partnership at this year’s event at 10:00am on Saturday, August 17th.
The Celebrate Shoreline Festival on Saturday, August 17th at Cromwell Park will start at noon and include popular pony rides, the petting zoo, live theater, two music stages, inflatables, roving entertainment, a photo booth, a beer and wine garden, and food trucks offering several varieties of food. The successful toy workshop addition last year is back due to popular demand.
And returning for a third year, the Celebrate Shoreline Festival main stage will showcase three community groups sharing their culture through music and dance.
The City will again host the Celebrate Shoreline Main Stage Concert later into the evening of the main Festival with the beer and wine garden available for all festival goers over 21. Local bands Geoffrey Castle, Chikiri, Smokey Brights and Rolling Stones Concert Experience will play the Main Stage Concert.
And finally, as has become tradition, the sandcastle building contest sponsored by the Richmond Beach Community Association will be accompanied by live Steel Drum music at Richmond Beach Saltwater Park closing out the Celebrate Shoreline weekend on Sunday, August 18, 2019.
