Since 2009, the City of Lake Forest Park has participated in Bike Month.
It is one of the events included in the City's wellness program, which in turn helps reduce our health insurance costs.
The team members were able to log a total of 868 miles for the month, which was 79 miles more than last year.
Based on the “Greenhouse gas reporting: conversion factors 2017,” the team saved roughly 253 pounds of CO2 from going into the environment during May.
While the challenge is over, the team continues biking to work.

While laudable, this appears to gloss over the fact the city employees like the Code Enforcement officer, Public Works Director and others driver gas guzzling SUVs (a full size Expedition as one vehicle). If the city and city hall employees were honestly committed to reducing their perceived carbon footprint, the city would have converted the non-Police vehicles to hybrids or EVs and the employees would demand the city do this. Otherwise, it's all virtue signalling.
