Yesterday's article on candidates had school board information that was not current. Here's the scoop:

Shoreline School District 412, Director District 5 - open seat

School board incumbent Dick Potter District #5 did not file for another term. His seat has three candidates, who will be in the primary.

The primary election on August 6, 2019 will include races with more than two candidates. Council position #6 in Lake Forest Park and Council position #4 in Shoreline will be on the primary ballot, as will the open seat #5 on the school board. The top two of each race will be in the November election with all the other council and school board elections.

The school board districts are defined geographic areas. The candidate must live in the area that corresponds with the seat they run for.

Even though the candidates have geographic restrictions, everyone in Shoreline and Lake Forest Park votes for all seats.

City council positions do not have geographic restrictions - other than living in the city.
