Local legislators were in influential positions during the recently completed session

The state legislature concluded its 2019 session on April 27. Three local legislators served as committee chairs
Democratic State Reps. Gerry Pollet and Cindy Ryu and State Sen. David Frockt all led committees in the 2019 Legislature.
Pollet was chairman of the Local Government Committee in the House of Representatives; Ryu led the House committee on housing, community development and veterans; and Frockt led the Senate Ways and Means Committee’s work on the capital budget.
Pollet and Frockt represent the 46th Legislative District, including Lake Forest Park, Kenmore, and north and northeast Seattle.
Ryu represents the 32nd Legislative District, including the city of Shoreline, part of northwest Seattle, Woodway, south Edmonds and nearby unincorporated areas of south Snohomish County, the city of Lynnwood and part of Mountlake Terrace.
Pollet was a member of the House Appropriations Committee and the House College and Workforce Development Committee in addition to being chairman of the Local Government Committee.
Frockt was vice chairman of the Senate Ways and Means Committee and a member of the Senate Health and Long-Term Care Committee and its Behavioral Health Subcommittee.
Ryu was a member of the House Appropriations Committee and the Consumer Protection and Business Committee in addition to being chairwoman of the committee on housing, community development and veterans.
