Shoreline Fire Chief Cowan will speak at Shoreline Rotary |
Join Shoreline Rotary on Wednesday morning, March 20, 2019 at the Shoreline Community College HUB. The meeting starts at 7:00am with breakfast and camaraderie; the formal program (see below) starts at 7:30am.
Back in the long-ago days, in order for a blazing house fire to be extinguished around here, it had to wait for the Edmonds or the Seattle fire departments to show up.
Unfortunately, it was almost always a moot point by the time they got there. “All over but the shoutin’,” as they say.
But the community put together an outstanding volunteer fire department in the 1930s. This became King County Fire District Number 4 in 1939, and then the bona fide, award-winning Shoreline Fire Department of today.
Our presentation this week will be given by the Shoreline Fire Department’s own Matt Cowan, who was sworn in as the new Fire Chief on June 5, 2013. Chief Cowan also served as the president of the King County Fire Chiefs Association from 2015 to 2017.
He will bring us up-to-date on the projects and programs of our wonderful Fire Department. See you Wednesday, and bring your friends to hear about this great community institution.
