It was a battle for the league title on Thursday, March 21, 2019 as the undefeated Einstein Tigers wrestling team visited the 2nd place Kellogg Knights.
Kellogg took the early lead with a pair of pins from George Fernandez at 81 pounds and Kaiju Ferguson at 88 pounds. Einstein bounced right back and won the next three matches to take their first lead at 13-12.
Over the several weights the two teams traded victories back and forth. When Kellogg's Matthew Curtis came back from a 4-0 deficit to pin his opponent in the second round of the 133 pound match the two teams found themselves tied at 30-30.
Einstein's Grant Harley held on for a 9-7 win at 140 pounds to reclaim the lead for the Tigers that would start an 18-0 run over four weights. Kellogg tried to rally, but three late pins from Ryder Baldwin, Jessie Gigrich and Jacob Smith weren't quite enough as Einstein held on for a narrow 54-48 victory.
The win also gave Einstein Coach Derek Norton his first undefeated season in fifteen years as head coach at the school
