Shoreline Public Schools on half day Friday - but check in the morning

Another snowstorm is on the horizon with snow forecasted to begin accumulating tomorrow morning. Our staff has been monitoring National Oceanic and Atmospheric Association (NOAA) weather reports throughout the day. NOAA reports are indicating a very high confidence that our area will begin accumulating snow tomorrow morning. They have also issued a Winter Weather Watch from noon tomorrow through 6pm on Saturday with significant snow accumulation.

Considering this information, we will be having a Half Day at all Shoreline Schools tomorrow, February 8 to ensure our buses are able to safely transport students home after school.

Please note that Half Day release times are earlier than Early Release Days. You can find the Half Day release times on our website HERE

We will reassess road conditions and weather reports early in the morning and will make an additional announcement by 6:00am if a cancellation is required.

Tomorrow’s Half Day schedule means:

• All schools will release on a Half Day schedule. You can find release times at www.shorelineschools.org/belltime
• Zero period classes are canceled
• No after school Extended Care
• Out-of-district transportation is canceled
• Transition Program will meet from 10:30-12:30
• All WIAA athletic events will be communicated separately
• All other school and district events and activities will be canceled Friday, Saturday and Sunday 
• Breakfast will be served at all schools, but no lunch at the middle or high schools
• All partial day programs are canceled

For Edwin Pratt Early Learning Center: 

• no Early Childhood Education classes; 
• No Head Start transportation; 
• AM preschool classes run 9 - 12; 
• full day preschool classes, including Head Start, will be open until 12:30; all students must be picked up by 12:30 p.m.; 
• the Edwin Pratt Early Learning Center will close at 12:30

Please know that we do not make decisions to change our school schedules lightly. We understand the stress and strain that this can have on our families. We truly appreciate your patience and flexibility as we make these changes in the interest of student safety.
