Sunday, February 17, 2019
The Cascade/Mariner High School Varsity bowling team from Everett, coached by Brittany Ralston and Marysville Pilchuck High School team coached by Janet Dills emerged as the top two seeded teams entering tomorrow’s grand finale of the 54th Annual Washington State Bowling Proprietors’ Association (WSBPA), State High School Varsity Western Washington Bowling Championships taking place at Paradise Entertainment Center in Tacoma.
In singles, Payton Edwards from Curtis H.S., Jaimi Robertson from Lake Stevens H.S. are in 1st place in their respective divisions after 4 games of qualifications.
11 five-person teams laced up their shoes competing in two divisions along with 19 bowlers competing in a singles division. Teams and singles championships will be crowned Sunday, February 17th as the competition resumes at 9:00am.
Statewide snow conditions and mountain pass closures forced the tournament to be split into two events, one in Tacoma and a 2nd in Spokane for the safety of all the student athletes and parents.
More than 1,000 student athletes statewide participated during the bowling season. Now in its 54th year, this is the 2nd longest running High School Bowling Championship in America, following only New York.
