Entrance to Grace Cole Nature Park |
By Mamie Bolander
We had a little break in August, from doing our good work at Grace Cole Nature Park, and I hope you're all ready to put in a few hours on Saturday, September 15, 2018 sprucing up our own special Grace Cole Nature Park.
There are chips to spread on trails or on weeded areas of the forest to deter non-native plant growth. We may also spend some time dealing with ivy and other invasive species in the upper northwest portion of the park.
Please bring your favorite loppers, pruning shears and spades or shovels for digging out roots. Recent rain should have softened the soil a bit to enable getting those roots out.
Wear sturdy closed shoes and dress for the weather. Water bottles recommended.
Snacks and beverages provided.
Students are encouraged to participate. Those under 14 must have signed parental consent (available on site). Younger helpers must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
Grace Cole Nature Park can be reached by heading south onto 28th Ave NE from NE 178th in Lake Forest Park. It's at the end of that straight stretch of 28th Ave about 1/2 mile from NE 178th St.
I'll look forward to seeing you on Saturday, Sept. 15th., 9am!
