When high school students graduate, many of them go on to college. Some stay close to home, while others scatter to the four winds.
One such recent grad who has traveled far is Maggie Taylor, Shorecrest class of 2018.
Taylor played four years of soccer for Coach Mindy Dalziel and the Scots, and she is continuing her playing career at far away St. Michaels College, in picturesque Colchester, Vermont, population 17,000.
With an enrollment of 2,000 undergrads, St. Mike’s is just north of Burlington, a stone’s throw from Lake Champlain.
In her first game for the Purple Knights last week, Taylor scored her first collegiate goal, and added an assist for good measure.
Afterward, Taylor said “I am having so much fun and the team is amazing - super supportive and a good environment. It’s a lot harder than I expected but a lot more rewarding”.
She is majoring in Political Science and Business.
Maggie is the daughter of Pat and Tina Taylor, who live in Lake Forest Park.
