Review by Luanne Brown
No matter how long you live in this area, there are always new things to discover and enjoy. One of the things I recently stumbled upon is The Phoenix Theater. I’ve driven past it for years and didn’t even notice it. So much for my powers of observation. But now that I’ve found this neighborhood treasure, I’m on a mission to make sure everyone knows about it.
Last Friday, I attended the first performance of a collection of seven 10-minute comedic plays by local playwrights and laughed myself silly. Each play had its own point and was entertaining and well-written. Some of them, like A TRUE AND FACTUAL ACCOUNT OF THE BIRTH OF MY DAUGHTER, written and directed by Eric Lewis, is fall-down-laughing hilarious.
Not only were the plays enjoyable, but the talents of the diverse cast were well-displayed.
And did I mention that the theater is air-conditioned, and that they sell food and beverages you can eat while watching the fun? What could be better during this upcoming weekend’s expected heat wave?
This collection of plays ONLY has three more performances this coming weekend, so get your tickets today. You don’t want to miss out on the fun.
