Wild creatures among us: Hip hop little bunny

A pair of Cottontail rabbits have taken up residency across the street from us. This is a first for us. In the 28 years that we have lived in this home we have seen all kinds of wildlife on our street but never rabbits. What's up Doc?
Since there are a pair of the little bunnies I decided to research the internet to find out about the rabbits. They are herbivores so they eat grasses, sedges, sprouts, and tree bark. Cottontails also eat succulent annuals, weeds, and an occasional garden vegetable.
They are speedy little buggers and can reach speeds up to 18 miles per hour. Cottontails have a life span of 3 years. These rabbits mature early, generally young rabbits can mate at 2 to 3 months of age, and an average litter is 3 to 4 babies.

I recently saw a bunny (bunnies?) in the brambles and big grass yards near the intersection of 8th NE and NE 180th - and one near NE 175th and 10th NE. Before that the only bunny I had seen was in the brambles in the green space under the power lines on 10th NE at NE 188th. More frequent coyote sightings
will follow, I'm sure!
Just so happens we found a little cottontail bunny in our garden yesterday May 20 2018. Eating poppy leaves and sweet rocket leaves. Sad to see they have such short lives. We have raccoons, possum, squirrels and rats because we have fruit and veggies they all like. They wipe out our grapes and cherries even before they ripen in just 2 days. Wish people would keep their pet food inside to reduce their numbers (in winter when food is scarce) - I really would like to get a decent harvest of grapes and cherries. The animals don't really care too much for the beans and other stuff... We have no pets here that would scare it off, but most of the neighbors do.
We were just at Boeing Creek Park on 175th near 10th NW and it was FILLED with little bunnies! We some one a few nights ago, but tonight we must have seen a dozen or more of them!
I have lived in Richmond Beach area since December 1963 (I was a kid then) and never in all the years have I ever seen a rabbit, until this morning and a few neighbors saw him as well. I'm just a few blocks away from the QFC on RBR. I thought it was pretty cool to see, but now I am trying to find their home. I saw the one at 3:00am, and again at 7:00am, and then again at 10:00am
I've lived in meridian park area for 35 years never seen a rabbit until this year. Now I'm seeing them every where. I'm waiting for the coyotes to find out about them. 5/25/21
