Wow - more foreign students disrupting class, no more soccer field, more $ for a developer. And so goes Shoreline...
ReplyDeleteHow are foreign students disrupting class?
ReplyDeleteAsk a student - many foreign students are here because there are not enough college seats in their home countries, and college/room/board etc are a comparative bargain in the states. Many are middling students that are not interested in higher education - it's basically a vacation abroad for them. Ask instructors at Shoreline or Seattle Central - there's also a healthy market for "ghost-written" papers - native english speakers write (for a fee) the papers needed for many of these students.
ReplyDeleteIt's not "hurting" anyone, except the students that are in class for an education and find the class compromised by distractions in the back of the room.
The colleges charge much higher tuition for foreign students, so its easy to understand why they court them.
Wow, that first comment is neither civil nor respectful and smacks of racism. How did it make it through the filter?
