Shorecrest tennis has exceptional first day at 3A district tournament

Shorecrest had an exceptional first day at WesCo 3A tennis districts at Arlington High School. Three of its four players will move on to State and the fourth still has a chance.

1st round

Singles

Kate Ivens (SC) def. Celia Forster (Snohomish) 6-0, 6-2

Anna Burke (SC) def. Melody Banhart (Everett) 6-2, 6-1

Doubles

Bella Saunders/Sophie Ivens def. Parker Leland/Jennifer Arends (Everett) 6-1, 6-1

Semi-Finals

Singles

Kate Ivens (SC) def. Avery Zill (Stanwood) 6-0, 6-2

Catherine Michelutti (Squalicum) def. Anna Burke (SC) 6-0, 6-0

Doubles

Bella Saunders/Sophie Ivens (SC) def. Ashley Kolbeck/Margarita Muro (Arlington) 6-1, 6-4


Kate, Bella, and Sophie have already qualified for state and will play in the WesCo 3A District Finals on Wednesday 5/16 at Arlington High School. Anna can still qualify for state by winning her next two matches in the consolation bracket.
