Shorecrest student awarded ADK scholarship

Ashley Aversano wants to be a teacher in order to lead others to those “aha moments” that we all understand! As you will see by what she has done in her life, she has already had many opportunities to have those herself and to share some with others. 

A member of the National Honor Society, Ashley has earned her high GPA while taking such classes as Spanish, Honors Chemistry, Physics, and UW Pre Calculus as well as Child Psychology, where she discovered her love for teaching in a special needs preschool classroom.

She continued working with children and peers by being a volleyball coach at Brookside and Meridian Park elementary schools, refereeing volleyball at the Alderwood Boys and Girls Club, working as a Homework Club math tutor, and being a TA for a Spanish class -- where she once had to help a sub by stepping in to teach the class when the teacher was absent.

In her spare time, Ashley played high school volleyball for four years and club volleyball for two. She has also worked in retail the past couple of years and is now training to be a manager at Plato’s Closet in Lynnwood.

Ashley Aversano will be graduating from Shorecrest High School this spring. She plans to attend Western Washington University and become a math teacher.

ADK is an international fraternal fellowship of women educators established to promote excellence in education and support worthy community programs relating to education, families, and world understanding. Alpha Delta Chapter was organized in Shoreline in 1963 and regularly contributes to local schools and charities.
