New safety measures on Lake Forest Park roads

Construction has begun on the new red light camera photo enforcement on SR 522 and SR 104. It is anticipated construction will be complete by May 31.

The City installed two sets of pedestrian flashing crosswalk signals at 35th Ave NE / NE 187th St and 30th Ave NE / NE 200th Ave.

The City of Lake Forest Park has purchased two portable active speed signs that are being deployed in areas of concern. This past year, the City worked with the community on a SAFE STREETS project to identify several problem areas in the City.

We hope to install permanent Active Speed signs and traffic calming measures in the coming months.

  1. Oh good more Orwellian surveillance state garbage. Folks do you REALLY want to live in the world depicted in the book 1984 for the sake of safety? Do you realize that no matter what you do you're going to die? The question is what do you do with your life in the interim?

  2. Dear Anon - traffic cameras are the least of the Orwellian state we find ourselves in. And since so many people choose to NOT follow traffic laws, I'm perfectly happy to have the cameras - break the law, pay a fine. If you're one of the "d***s" that speed on Bothell Way and routinely FAIL TO STOP for pedestrians, you're the reason we need cameras.

  3. How do cameras create safety? Drivers will still speed through school zones and run red lights. The only thing they create is profit for the camera company! If you truely want safety, raise your taxes and hire more police officers.

  4. You can't drive 15 feet without encountering a cop as it is. We must be the most policed community in the USA.

  5. If so many people refuse to follow traffic laws, perhaps that is because traffic laws, like most other things that go on in Shoreline, do not follow the will of the people. I did not want 15th Ave NE, 185th, or Richmond Beach road turned from 4 lanes into two when congestion was already bad, but our City Council did it anyway.
