The City of Shoreline’s Parks Department is looking for folks to help maintain native habitat restoration areas in Richmond Beach Saltwater Park that were planted by the University of Washington Restoration Ecology Network. There is a group of diverse people who maintain these areas throughout the summer to ensure the success of the plantings and they need additional help. Tasks include watering native plantings and removing invasive plants that return to the restoration areas.
Who can volunteer: Folks who are interested in habitat restoration, folks who visit the park and are interested in giving back, high-schoolers looking for volunteer hours to fulfill their school community service hours, or anyone that wants to lend a hand. We appreciate everyone who comes to help make habitat restoration at the park a success!
Snacks, water, and tools will be provided. All you have to do is show up with sturdy shoes/boots. Please dress for the weather, including a hat and sunscreen, and be ready to enjoy the magnificent Puget Sound and Olympic Mountains views. Meet us in the lower parking lot by the rest rooms where you can sign-in and pick up your tools. We'll also have a brief introduction about the project we'll be doing that day.
All volunteers between the ages of 12 and 17 must bring a completed Youth Waiver, including a signature from a parent or guardian. Youth under 12 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. (Note: minimum age for unaccompanied youth at Shoreline events is 14.)
Please contact Susana Villamarin at svillamarin@shorelinewa.gov or call 206-801-2603 to get the waiver form emailed to you.
