Day One results for 53rd Annual Bowling Championships

Moses Lake, R. A. Long and Mariner High Schools Leading After Day One of the 53rd Annual WSBPA High School Varsity Bowling Championships at Narrows Plaza Bowl in Tacoma

Shorewood has two teams and Shorecrest one at the Championships in Tacoma.

Moses Lake, R. A Long (Longview), and Mariner (Everett) High School Varsity bowling teams emerged as the top three seeded teams entering tomorrow’s grand finale of the 53rd Annual Washington State Bowling Proprietors’ Association (WSBPA), State High School Varsity Bowling Championships taking place at Narrows Plaza Bowl in University Place, WA (2200 West Mildred Avenue, Tacoma, WA).

In singles, Olivia Kolppa (Anacortes), Crystal Doyle (Cascade), and Thea Hatch, (Marysville Gethchell) lead the girls singles event, while Aidghan Ziegler (Home School), Josh Gyer (Curtis ), and Noah Cooper (Marysville Pilchuk), are in 1st place in their respective divisions after 5 games of qualifications.

24 five-person teams laced up their shoes competing in three divisions along with 72 bowlers competing in a singles division. Teams and singles championships will be crowed Sunday, February 18th at 2:30 p.m. as the competition resumes at 9:00 a.m.

More than 1,000 student athletes statewide participated during the bowling season. Now in its 53rd year, this is the 2nd longest running High School Bowling Championship in America, following only New York.
