The last couple of mornimgs the Thomas G.Thompson has cruised in and out of the Shoreline Sea with the sun highlighting her beautiful lines.

She is a research vessel owned by the US Navy and operated under a Charter Party Agreement by the University of Washington as a part of the University-National Oceanographic Laboratory System Fleet.

The normal cruising speed is 11 knots. This vessel offers a ship's complement 21 officers and crew, to Marine technicians and berthing up to 36 scientists.

And again, in the evening. We must have something worth researching!

  1. The Thompson has been "hanging out" the last several days in one Puget Sound location - Mid -sound about half way between Kingston and Point no Point (south of Whidbey Island). Is there a website that lets you know what they are "researching"?

  2. We were not researching anything at that time. We were doing sea trials and builders trials for the mid-life refit the thommy received
