Slipware by Zak Helenske now through Nov 3 at SCC Art Gallery

Monday, October 2, 2017

Zak Helenske is a potter who is interested in the development of form and the exploration of pattern, referencing architectural situations and social observations. He uses geometry as a language to communicate ideas of space, proximity, occupation, and structure. By layering patterns on top of each other, Helenske draws maps that help define or bend an orientation.

Fine plates
Pots are some of the objects that connect us across cultures and across time. Helenske is interested in the anti-monumental, and challenged by the spatial balance between pottery, architecture and community.

Meet the artist at a  reception at the Shoreline Community College Art Gallery on Saturday, October 21 from 5-7pm. SCC Art Gallery, Building 1000 Lobby, 16101 Greenwood Ave N, Shoreline 98133 (campus map). Free parking after 4pm.
