While this provides a valuable connection for users traveling north / south through Shoreline, it is missing connections to local neighborhoods, parks, city amenities and schools.
The Bike Plan Implementation project will complete the majority of the City of Shoreline’s adopted Bicycle System Plan and Wayfinding Program.
What is happening to Dayton Ave N?
The project will install continuous bike lanes along the corridor. This will be accomplished by installing new markings between Westminster Way N and Carlyle Hall Rd N.

- Disturbances to landscaping and paving within the right-of-way
- Temporary loss of two-way traffic (all work to be completed between the hours of 9am-3pm)

I am not opposed to the bike lanes, but what about some sidewalks?! There are way more walkers than bikers because of the college & the highschool...why are we spending money on bike lanes and igno ring how the road/boulevards are actually used by people?
ReplyDeleteSo Shoreline is doing major public process on Dayton? Swell. But on a 20 block section of Fifth Ave NE, they just show up on a Friday, with no notice, no process, no nothing, just no parking for you, and big bucks for 6 bikes a week?

As I said at the last council meeting, is the Fifth Ave Bikelane project a premonition of how they'll implement the Light Rail Dtations or Rezones? Lord help us!!
And have you checked out the re-striping on 5th NE between 155th and 175th? I thought it might make it safer to cross the street by the library (cars would stop for people in the crosswalk) but alas pedestrians still have to wait for a large break in the traffic. Please can we have cameras?
