Dedicated walkers who participated in the Million Step challenge gathered in Ridgecrest's Paramount School Park Thursday for a potluck and a celebration.
Helen W, who logged the most steps during the month, was presented with a certificate and walking-appropriate prizes. Prizes also went to second place stepper Trevor D, 1,045.719 steps, and third place G Harris, 957,934 steps.
Everyone who participated was declared a winner, for promoting their own health and wellness.
The Million Step Challenge asked participants to count their steps and record their daily totals on the city website from the April 29 kick off to the last day of May.
The totals ranged from 1450 to Helen's winning 1,261,826.
Many people walk and do not record their steps, but this event, co-sponsored by the Ridgecrest Neighborhood Association and the City of Shoreline was a way of calling attention to community goals of health, fitness and friendly competition.
