Yup. I figured there'd be a lot of water going over the falls right now.
Mike Remarcke took this photo just last week.
Looking at the photo, I realized that although I have lived here all my life and have visited the Falls, I really know nothing about it.
So I went to my favorite source, HistoryLink.org - the encyclopedia of Washington history - and found a fascinating account of the falls.
Snoqualmie Falls is a 276-foot waterfall on the Snoqualmie River about 30 miles east of Seattle on the way to Snoqualmie Pass. The falls have been for generations a sacred site for the Snoqualmie Tribe and a source of hydraulic power. Today it is the second-most visited tourist attraction in Washington state, after Mt. Rainier.
It goes on to talk about the river being diverted to drill a hydroelectric plant into the rockface, and a daredevil parachuting over the falls.
