PFLAG group forming for local area

PFLAG Seattle is happy to announce the formation of a new support meeting for the North Seattle / Shoreline / Edmonds area, with the first meeting scheduled for March 28. The meetings are free to attend, and all interested persons are invited.

PFLAG is a national organization that provides support, education and advocacy for gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender and queer persons, their families and friends.

Monthly meetings provide peer-to-peer confidential support in a group setting, as well as education on the issues that are important to the community.

The national organization also works hard to advocate for inclusive policies and laws at national, state and local levels.

Our guest speaker for the first meeting will be Lisa Love, M.Ed., Manager of Health Education for Seattle Public Schools (SPS). She oversees LGBTQ programs, provides professional development, and supports k-12 students, staff and families.

Lisa has been instrumental in creating inclusive policies, as well as innovative programming for LGBTQ students across grade levels. Lisa will highlight current initiatives in SPS including Gay / Straight Alliances and Gender / Sexuality Alliances, k-5 curriculum projects addressing gender, and events that support and celebrate LGBTQ students and families.

PFLAG will meet the 4th Tuesday of every month from 7-9pm at Haller Lake United Methodist Church, 13055 1st Ave NE, Seattle, WA 98125.
