The National Weather Service in Seattle has issued a Winter Storm Warning covering the Shoreline and Lake Forest Park area. The Warning was issued at 10:26am Sunday morning and is in effect from 6pm Sunday evening until 4pm Monday afternoon. This is our first Winter Storm Warning since January 17, 2012.

The forecast from the National Weather Service is on board with what I was expecting during my write up last night with 3-6 inches possible, some locations might even get up to 8 inches of snow. Most of the snow is expected to start falling after 6pm Sunday evening and continue through 4pm Monday afternoon.

Beyond Monday afternoon the forecast is still calling for snow showers lasting through Monday night. Tuesday and Wednesday is expecting to see snow showers, maybe mixed with rain during the afternoons until a warm up Wednesday night into Thursday.

Bottom line: Be prepared for lasting winter weather conditions that could be present well into Thursday.
