Frank Workman the 'Voice of Shorecrest Sports' honored at Hoopapalooza

Frank Workman was surprised at the Hoopapalooza basketball games he was announcing with a special ceremony honoring his years of work in local high school sports.

Don Dalziel, Athletic Director for the Shoreline School District, has the following to say about Frank:

Started attending Shorecrest High School events when his son Tim was in grade school in the late 90’s and became a SC Little Buddy with the football team.

Became a full-fledged, full time SC girls basketball fan in 2002 when son Tim served as a manager for the team. Since then, I’m not sure if he has missed too many home games and attends most of the away games as well in recent years.

Not sure on what number of SC girls basketball games he has attended, but if you count 20 girls' basketball games in a season, and multiply that by 15 seasons that equals 300 games. Not counting post season or any other game he goes to just for fun!

Has now been announcing for District events in Basketball, Football, Soccer, Wrestling and Track and Field. Has been the Voice at Shoreline stadium and Shorecrest. This year alone Frank will have announced 40 girls and boys Soccer games for both Shorecrest and Shorewood, 10 home football games, 10 track meets, 20 home basketball games for a total of 80 plus contests … and that’s just the regular season. Throw in post season events and he is way over 100 events a year that he “gets” to announce.

Favorite line: I don't know how many times I have heard Frank say “ How much do I have to pay you to do this today?”

Frank is the definition of professional. If there is something he can help with, he will do it. When we ask him to be a “neutral announcer” for post events, He can do it.

Frank is truly a class act, and passionate for all things Shoreline. Wishing him well moving forward.

In addition, Frank works with the video club at Shorecrest, as they tape and broadcast school sports. He writes "Frank Workman on Sports" articles for the Shoreline Area News as well as writing regular sports reports.

And another fun fact: Frank is the one who tagged the annual all team Shorecrest - Shorewood basketball day "Hoopapalooza".
