U.S. and Germany relationship |
While the United States continues to be a key political partner and ally in Europe, new challenges have arisen recently, including:

- The rise of populist politics and anti-immigrant rhetoric in both the U.S. and Europe
Dr. Wendler recently published a book about European regional politics and political polarization, and argues that recent developments, including the rise of populism in both the U.S. and in Europe, reflect long-standing challenges since the end of the Cold War rather than entirely new ones
