As an FYI - the "transients" trespassed from the house on Dayton and 160th were not transients. They were squatters, and possible drug dealers. The police were called several times. At one point, the SHoreline Police Department did arrest an individual, and question several others who were at this house. We (my neighbors and I) were told by the police that there was drug paraphernalia in and around the house. We boarded up the back door where these people were getting in, but they kept coming back. Unfortunately, with our current laws, the police can not trespass or evict squatters without the legal owner specifically asking them to. The bisggest issue with this house - and it was almost a year of issues - was that this property is owned by a reverse mortgage company who owns the house on a foreclosure. The company is based in TX. It took us six months, with help from Shoreline Area News and other neighbors, to determine the legal owner. Even after finding the legal owner, the CRT (and Bob Crozier did a great job!) had a hard time getting them to take any action. We appreciate our community, our police, and this online newspaper for all of the help we got, and continue to get, in keeping our neighborhoods and city safe for all of us!
