Edmonds police took a man into custody just south of Costco in Shoreline Wednesday morning, following a brief pursuit of a stolen Prius that started at 220th Street Southwest and Highway 99 and a vehicle crash at 200th and Highway 99.
According to Edmonds police spokesman Sgt. Shane Hawley, an Edmonds patrol officer driving in the vicinity of 220th Street Southwest and Highway 99 around 11:30 a.m. Wednesday when he noticed a vehicle that matched the description of a Prius that had been stolen out of King County. Police chased the vehicle for a minute or two, but due to traffic volumes the pursuit was called off, Hawley said.
The suspect drove across the county line into Shoreline, where he crashed the vehicle a few minutes later. The man ran from the scene, but police found him hiding under a bush in the 19800 block of Highway 99, Hawley said.
The suspect was taken to Swedish Edmonds hospital for an evaluation but did not appear to be injured, said Hawley, adding that no one else was hurt during the incident.
The man’s city of residence and age weren’t immediately available.
