Shoreline Little League Baseball Juniors in the State Tourney

Shoreline Little League plays hard

On Saturday the Shoreline Little League Junior level baseball team played down in Vancouver, Washington, against Redmond. The boys played hard but the errors early in the game really were too tough for them to overcome.

Late in the game the game they made a comeback which allowed SLL to get the score closer but Redmond held off SLL’s surge to take the game by a score of 14-7 in 7 innings.

Entering the losers' bracket with some fire under their feet to get back into their winning ways, their next game was on Sunday against District 5. On Saturday, District 5 lost to West Valley by a score of 23-1, according to the Washington Little League website.

Shoreline started this game with a bang, scoring 14 runs in the first 2 innings. District 5 was a really young team with little experience, but they put 100% into the game, even down 21-0 going into the top of the 5th and final inning.

Shoreline allowed a run in that inning and came out on top by a score of 21-1. Normally the game would have gone a full 7 innings, but there is a mercy rule that goes into effect when a team is up by at least 10 runs after 5 innings of play are completed.

Then on Tuesday the boys faced Redmond again in a rematch after they were beaten by 7 runs on Saturday by the same team. This time Shoreline showed true dominance by ending the game in the 6th innings with a walk-off scoring run for a 15-5 win. This was a huge win since they lost their first game and you are eliminated when you lose 2 games.

Thursday Shoreline plays Steel Lake/ Kent from District 10 at 6pm on the same field, Glenwood, in Vancouver, Washington. Steel Lake/ Kent lost their first game of the tournament 6-4 but has since won 3 straight, including a win Wednesday of 15-5 over North Kitsap from District 2.

Shoreline has to win Thursday, win Friday and then win two games on Saturday to win the State Championship, but from what I have seen from this team so far, I have no doubt they can pull it off.
