Barrett Jones, 9, son of Jane and Steve Jones of Shoreline, and grandson of former residents Don and Joyce Jones, recently completed the 3rd grade at Parkwood Elementary in Shoreline.
His teacher, Miss Mesler, gave the students an assignment to write a poem in class - with no outside help.
The assignment was part of their Native American studies, and was recited at their class Potlatch.
