Volunteers wanted - strong backs, short hours, high job satisfaction

The Shoreline Farmers Market is thriving in its new location at Aurora Square. Use of the parking lot by Sears in the upper lot has allowed them to expand and offer more crafts, foods, and farmers.

The visibility and accessibility of the site attracts many more attendees, which in turn encourages more vendors to participate.

However, that means a lot more work to be done to set up and break down each Saturday, and help with activities. The Market relies on volunteers for these tasks, and the more the Market grows, the more volunteers are needed.

Available: 388 volunteer slots throughout the summer. The market is on Saturdays from 10am to 3pm. Prime times start at 3pm when the market breaks down, but you can sign up for any of the available spots, which includes greeters, assisting with kid activities, and ranges from an hour to all day.

Market Manager Teri Wheeler says that volunteers really like to sign up at the VolunteersSpot site.

"People like being able to choose the time and position they want and appreciate the auto email reminder a few days before their shift. I tell people that feel intimidated by technology that I am happy to help sign them up."

Contact Teri by email if you have questions or would like help signing up.

And there's a perq - volunteers will get a $5 Market Buck to spend at the Market - including one of those spiffy $5 Farmers Market t-shirts!
