Fourteen Shorecrest and Shorewood DECA students were among over 17,000 students from around the world to participate in the International Career Development Conference (ICDC) in Nashville, TN on April 23-26.
Shorecrest's Elizabeth Holmdahl was a top 10 finalist in Business Finance Marketing. |
The conference featured the top DECA students from each state and international chapter. Facing off against the world’s best, the Shoreline students rose to the occasion and proved they were there for a reason.
In addition to strong showings from all of the Shoreline students who competed, Shorecrest's Elizabeth Holmdahl was recognized as a Top 10 Finalist in Business Finance Marketing and the Shorecrest School-Based Enterprise Team of Lauren Curti, Evietta Chapman and Micah Roberton placed in the Top 25 for their school store with a concentration on selling.

It wasn’t all competitions and awards though; the students also attended learning sessions and heard presentations from some of the world’s top business leaders.
To qualify to attend the ICDC, the 14 Shoreline students first had to earn high placing at the state competition, which occurred in early March. Washington has the world’s 4th largest DECA chapter with over 12,000 students, so having advanced from the state competition to the ICDC is a major accomplishment, explained Shorecrest DECA Advisor Emily Wray. Both her and Shorewood DECA Advisor Damon Oliveto hope to continue that success and advance students to the ICDC again next year.
