2016 Million STEP Challenge at Paramount School Park

Kick off event Saturday, April 30 and The Challenge runs through the entire month of May.

The Million Step Challenge at Paramount School Park is returning in May with an even greater challenge.

For 2016, we are challenging the Shoreline community to collectively walk 5 million steps during the month of May in the name of health, fitness and friendly competition.

Five million steps comes out to roughly 2,300 miles, so we have a big challenge ahead of us and will need the help of the entire community to make our goal. Need more incentive? Participants will be able to see their individual totals and compete against each other for big prizes.

Participants of all ages are encouraged to visit Paramount School Park from May 1st-31st and log the number of laps completed each time on the paper tracking form located at the park (or online).

Current standing and totals will be posted weekly and prizes will be awarded to top steppers at the Community Potluck and Awards on Thursday, June 2nd at 6:30pm.

The Million Step Challenge is a partnership between the City of Shoreline and the Ridgecrest Neighborhood Association. We would like to thank our local business prize sponsors Crossfit Amped, Fire and Earth Kitchen, and North City Water District.

Kickoff Event: Saturday, April 30, 2016, 9:00-11:00am, FREE

To kick off the challenge, the community is invited to an opening event on Saturday, April 30 from 9:00 - 11:00am. This is your chance to have one extra day to get your laps in so don’t miss out! We’ll have a warm up, energizing snacks and free refillable water bottles from the North City Water District. The Ridgecrest Neighborhood Association is sponsoring the event and asks people to bring a donation of a non-perishable food (preferably healthy) for Hope Link – Shoreline’s Food Bank.
